Montenegro played a prominent role at the ITU Cyberdrill event held from November 28 to December 1, 2023, in Limassol, Cyprus. Organized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the UN’s body for information and communication technologies established in 1865, the event brought together experts from leading global institutions and companies.
Marinela Lazarević, the National focal point for ITU and Head of the Department for Electronic Communications and Radio Spectrum at the Ministry of Economic Development and Tourism, presented Montenegro’s government experience in safeguarding critical information infrastructure. Dr. Andreja Mihailović from the University of Montenegro highlighted the importance of educational programs in the development of cyber diplomacy and global cybersecurity on a dedicated panel.
Attendees included representatives from the Council of Europe, the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA), leading national cybersecurity agencies and institutes, and companies like Microsoft. This exceptional opportunity facilitated discussions on the world’s major cybersecurity challenges, knowledge exchange, and experiences in best practices and cyber safety.
