The 11th edition of the Congress “Securing the Balkan Mosaic: Cyber–Physical Resilience in a Hybrid Era” was held on 19–20 March 2026 in Sibiu, Romania.

As a representative of Women4Cyber Montenegro, Irina Stamatović participated in the 11th edition of the congress “Securing the Balkan Mosaic: Cyber–Physical Resilience in a Hybrid Era,” held on 19–20 March 2026 in Sibiu, Romania.

During her panel, she presented Montenegro’s progress in aligning its national cybersecurity framework with the European Union acquis, with particular emphasis on the transposition of the NIS2 Directive through the Law on Information Security. She also outlined the key strategic orientations defined in Montenegro’s Cybersecurity Strategy 2022–2026, highlighting ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional, technical, and human capacities in response to increasingly complex cyber threats.

Furthermore, she addressed the regulatory framework concerning personal data protection, noting that while Montenegro has an established legal basis in this area, the current Law on Personal Data Protection is not yet fully harmonized with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which remains an important priority in the country’s EU integration.

The congress served as a platform not only for discussions on cybersecurity, but also for addressing broader technological developments, particularly the growing impact of artificial intelligence and its implications for security, governance, and regulatory frameworks.

Participation in this event contributed to strengthening the visibility of Montenegro’s efforts in cybersecurity and enabled the exchange of knowledge and best practices with international experts and stakeholders.
